If you haven't seen it yet, there's a new version of this page here.
Use this page to calculate bicycle gear sizes (in inches) from any wheel/chainring/sprocket combination.
Wheel size: 24" 26" 700C 27" Other ---> + tyre dia. 0 20 mm 23 25 28 32 35 38 44 50 56 1.00 in. 1.25 1.5 1.75 1.95 2.00 2.10 2.125 2.20 2.25 2.30 2.35 2.40
Chainring(s): Rear sprocket(s): calculate gear inches
GEAR SIZE: In the chainring box enter either a single parameter, e.g., 52, or a comma-separated list, e.g. 52,42. Same goes for the sprocket box, e.g. 16 or 13,14,15,18,19,21.
Cadence (RPM) Speed -- MPH Speed -- KPH calculate speed reset all
Select Cadence and enter a value, e.g. 95, to calculate the speed at that cadence using the above gear(s). Select Speed and enter a value, e.g. 25, to calculate the cadence required to achieve that speed using the above gear(s).
For single gears results are shown in the coloured boxes above. For multiple gears results are shown in tabular form (in a separate window) and can be downloaded in MS Excel format (see below).
Saving tables in Excel (.xls format)
After choosing File - Save As replace the suggested .htm extension with .xls, e.g., gearcalc.htm becomes gearcalc.xls, click OK and you're done.
